Why We Work With Madison Community Foundation

  • ME partners with MCF to take advantage of MCF’s fund management expertise and oversight, and to make our grantmaking more efficient. Working with MCF also helps minimize administrative costs, allowing us to maximize the amount of money we have available for making grants.
  • Through our partnership with MCF, we can accept gifts of cash, securities, real estate, life insurance and retirement funds. Your contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
  • MCF invests the funds for long-term growth, preserving the principal while making a percentage of the endowment’s value available annually for Middleton area nonprofit projects and programs.

History of Middleton Endowment

Middleton Endowment originated as the Middleton Community Foundation in 1991. It was established by Mayor Dan Ramsey with $25,000 in resources. From 1991-2007, the Foundation supported many worthwhile activities and grew its assets to $32,000.

In 2007, recognizing the administrative challenges of operating a foundation and the opportunity to grow the endowment, the Foundation accepted a $50,000 challenge grant from Madison Community Foundation. In partnership with MCF, the fund’s assets have grown to approximately $220,000 and are now managed by MCF for the benefit of the Middleton community.
